Pallas Vase Set of 2 (1200-0882)
by Currey
If the Pallas Vase Set was a pair of canvases, the two vessels would be true works of art because the ceramic surfaces of the white and blue vases have been treated to hand-painted brush strokes. Illustrating the hand-made aspect of these vessels is how the white glazing that is applied over the luminous blue surface bubbles where it is the thickest, which provides the vases with greater texture. The fact that the flowing smudges been layered highlights the artisanal quality of each piece. Because these are hand-painted, each piece will vary slightly.
